Faith-based premarital counseling provides the guidance and support needed to establish a solid foundation for your marriage. By incorporating your faith into the counseling process, you can strengthen your relationship and prepare for a lifetime of love and commitment.
Our Counselors utilize a relationship assessment tool called “Prepare and Enrich,” which makes the counseling process efficient and effective. The premarital counseling process is designed to build relationship skills through insight, coaching, and practice. While we have many opportunities to learn new skills in life, navigating healthy relationships usually isn’t one of them. Take the time now to invest in your marriage. Participating in premarital counseling can reduce your risk of divorce by 30 %.
What to Expect
Premarital counseling takes place over approximately eight counseling sessions (more sessions may be necessary for some couples). Your Counselor will send you a link prior to your first session so you can complete your assessment virtually. During your first session, you will review the results of your personalized assessment together, which includes your personality profiles, your relationships strengths, as well as growth areas to target during counseling. The counseling process will cover key aspects of relational health including healthy communication, conflict resolutions skills, and views/handling of finances.
The Results
As a result of premarital counseling, couples understand each other better, feel more confident in their decision to move forward in their relationship, and more equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in marriage.
Marital Counseling
The Process
When couples are in conflict, they become deeply entrenched in patterns of communicating that are neither healthy nor productive. We utilize a form of counseling called Restoration Therapy, which aims to identify these “pain cycles” and discover what’s fueling them. Couples often feel a sense of relief when they are able to see their pain cycle mapped out.
What to Expect
Your counselor will foster an environment of safety and trust by setting parameters and providing expert guidance. You will feel challenged but also supported as you begin to pull back the veil and examine yourself and your relationship on a deeper level. You will be equipped with a road map of what needs to change and how to work together to make the necessary changes. Marriage counseling is not easy, but it is worth it. The number of sessions necessary varies greatly depending upon the couple and presenting issues.
The Results
The goal is to unite and empower the couple to overcome their “pain cycle” together by living out of their “peace cycle.” When peace is restored, couples can move towards connection, vulnerability, and healing.
